7 Exhibitions not to miss this Summer
In the summer months, between rest and holidays, dive into culture too and let yourself be inspired by the exhibitions near you!
We have gathered seven exhibition proposals by artists published by CPS, which reflect the diversity and relevance of contemporary artistic creation, starting with the most recent editions now presented at the CPS Galleries.
In each of these proposals, we suggest an artwork by the featured artist. Discover, visit, and take with you an artwork that prolongs this experience.
1. Collective Exhibition – New CPS Editions
Portuguese Silkscreen Center: Headquarters and Gallery at the Belém Cultural Center
Until September 1, 2026
Don't miss the opportunity to visit us and see the newly published artworks in person. In the same space coexist renowned Portuguese artists such as Álvaro Siza, Pedro Calapez, Luís Lemos, António Faria and Elisa Ochoa, young artists like Yuran Henrique and Killa, and established international artists like Ghizlane Agzenaï.

2. Maria José Oliveira, “I who was once me”
MNAC, Lisbon
May 15 to October 4, 2026
Maria José Oliveira's exhibition focuses on "Time", whether in the presence or absence of bodies, the spaces they occupy, and the relationships they establish. It brings reflection on continuity and transformation over time and across generations. Among the works presented, a piece stands out that evokes the shape of a seed, symbolizing what has already existed and what has yet to emerge, in a balance between the visible and what remains hidden.
The diversity and experimentation of materials, usual in the artist's creative process, are present. As well as the reference to the common and everyday.

3. "Turn Around, a look at the EDP Foundation Art Collection"
MAAT, Lisbon
February 11, 2026 to January 25, 2027
Around 90 works, by 58 artists, are presented in Turn around. A look at the EDP Foundation Art Collection, reflecting the long and vast programming activity of the EDP Foundation and MAAT. Recognized as a relevant repository for understanding the artistic trends and transformations that marked the last decades in the country, its collection highlights the diversity of languages, conceptual attitudes, and aesthetic orientations coexisting in our country. Among the artists presented are names such as Ana Jotta, António Palolo, Fernanda Fragateiro, Helena Almeida, Julião Sarmento, Manuel Baptista, Rui Sanches, among others.

4. António Faria, “Paraffin people that smell like morphine”
Capuchos Convent, Almada
July 11 to November 21, 2026
Conceived specifically for the space where it is located, the exhibition stages a “divine comedy”. It starts from references such as Goya and Luís Vaz de Camões, from the verse “such a small bug of the earth”, and invites the public to reflect on the place of the human being in the natural world and on the relationships they establish with their environment. The works are presented in an aesthetic between kitsch and grotesque, with António Faria building a visual universe where humor, irony, and unrest coexist.

5. Manuela Pimentel. "Here I am, I am a poet, I shall go at dusk"
Azarões Gallery, Underdogs, Lisbon
July 10 to August 15, 2026
Manuela Pimentel approaches the figure of the poet not through writing, but through images. She proposes a different way of looking at everyday life, a search for beauty and the possibility of renewal in something that often goes unnoticed or is already decaying. She transforms something ephemeral, like a billboard, into an object associated with permanence and cultural memory, the azulejo (tile). In a world of always outdated images and information, the artist reinvents them, inviting us to stay and look beyond the surface, a proposal clearly visible in the silkscreen published by CPS and about to sell out.

6. Amélia Soares, Tereza Morgado, Madalena Fonseca, Ana Galvão, among others
Collective exhibition: “From matrix to print”
Orient Museum, Lisbon
April 10 to August 9, 2026
The exhibition celebrates the 25th anniversary of the Água-Forte Printmaking Association, bringing together works by 45 national and foreign printmakers. The show articulates the pedagogical legacy with contemporary practice, presenting a vast panorama of printmaking techniques - etching, aquatint, drypoint, burin, mezzotint, and woodcut - highlighting the expressive diversity and technical mastery of the artists. Simultaneously, it evokes the Asian origin of printmaking and its historical role as a means of communication, reproduction, and democratization of knowledge.

7. Cláudia Sampaio and Joana Ramalho, collective exhibition:
“Chronology of a manguito – Zé Povinho by the Asylum"
Bordalo Pinheiro Museum, Lisbon
June 30 to September 13, 2026
Commemorating the one hundred and fifty years of existence of “Zé Povinho”, a character created by Rafael Bordalo Pinheiro, the invited artists transform the very path of being “on the margins” into an act of resistance and creativity. Confronted with the idea of the “manguito” [up yours gesture], not just as a gesture of disdain, but as a necessary position: the ability to maintain dignity and humor.
