The most recent engraving "Atlântico" by Juan Escudero, resulting from a residency at the CPS , was awarded the BBVA Acquisition Prize at the prestigious FIG Bilbao - International Engraving Festival which took place at the Euskalduna Palace in Bilbao (23 to 26 Nov. 2023) and received more 10,000 visitors.

The engraving, resulting from a copper matrix entirely designed by the artist, reveals meticulous technical work, as well as great chromatic sensitivity.

In the work, the (many) lines that suggest waves, gain life and luminosity, reconstituting the movement, fluidity and, simultaneously, the density, of the Atlantic Ocean.

About the artist:

Juan Escudero graduated in Painting, in the Fine Arts at the University of the Basque Country, a subject he ended up abandoning. He returned to the visual arts through drawing in 2011 and immersed himself in engraving from 2017. From 2018 onwards, he participated in several exhibitions. with work carried out in engraving, having already received numerous awards, the latest being: First Prize - XVIII Jesús Núñez International Prize for Graphic Art (Spain); BBVA Acquisition Prize at FIG Bilbao for "Atlantic" (Spain); First Prize V José Guadalupe Posada International Engraving Competition (Mexico); Merit Prize - Biennial International Printmaking Exhibition (Taiwan).
