Natura Viva, 1999
Academy of Arts, Berlim,Alemanha

Natura Viva contemplates the transitoriness of beauty and the cycle of life. This performance in the pond of the famous Berlin academy was within the exhibition the Art of Advertising with Jeff Koons and others. Regina Frank embroidered a white muslin dress with white lilies. Within the trays filled with flowers she had hidden lines of poetry. After slowly opening up her dress, she began to read the poetry from the flowers. She used the blossoms for make up and the water to wash it off, speaking in her poetry about symbolism of the lillie, speaking through flowers of innocence, ageing and wilting. The process of decay is seen differently depending on who is connected to it and how.
