Born in S. Vicente, Cape Verde in 1953 and emigrated to the Netherlands at the age of 17. He worked in the Dutch merchant navy and four years later he settled in Basel, Switzerland, where he worked until his death. returned to Cape Verde in 1985. He attended the School of Fine Arts (Schulle fur Gestaltung) from 1976 to 1979. He held several solo and group exhibitions in Portugal and Switzerland, France , Cape Verde, among others.
