Cláudia R. Sampaio

Born in 1981 in Lisbon, Portugal, Cláudia R. Sampaio studied at the Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema and was a scriptwriter in cinema and television. Currently, she is solely dedicated to writing and painting.

Claudia has six poetry books published so far: Os dias da Corja (2014), A primeira urina da manhã (2015), Ver no escuro (2016), 1025mg (2017) and Outro nome para a solidão (2018), Já não me deitar em pose de morrer (2020). She has collaborated in several poetry magazines and anthologies and wrote a text for theatre at the invitation of Culturgest as part of the 10th edition of the PANOS festival (2017). She is also published in Brazil and was one of the Portuguese poets invited to the Guadalajara Book Fair, Mexico, in 2019.

Her paintings were at the Outsider Art Fair (2020) in New York and in the group exhibition "Incómodo" (2020) at the Museu Municipal de Faro. She is in several private collections. She lives in Lisbon with her two cats: Polly Jean and Aurora. She is represented by MANICÓMIO since 2018.
