Filipe Amaral

Born in 1962, in Vila de Arraiolos. É He has a degree from the Faculty of Human Motricity and a degree in Painting from Ar.Co. In addition, he studied engraving at the Portuguese Engravers Cooperative and studied tile manufacturing techniques at the National Tile Museum.

His CV includes numerous solo exhibitions and participation in group shows in cities such as London, Lisbon, New York and São Paulo.

In 2019, he coordinated and inaugurated the “First Portuguese School Museum of Contemporary Art” - Ferreira de Castro School Group.

Filipe Amaral has created using various media: painting, sculpture and engraving, not only with the usual materials, as well as more unusual and/or innovative ones. Turn to the abstract language, namely line, and the use of color and light.

“By virtue of its presence, line seems to be the key to his compositions.
The crossing of lines and shapes, the overlapping of spaces and the play of light, color and shadows create the perspective of multiple paths.”
