GEOMETRY AND ORGANIC SHAPES Born in Viseu (1951), Cristina Ataíde lives and works in Lisbon. She has a degree in Sculpture from the Escola Superior de Belas Artes de Lisboa where she also attended the Equipment Design Course. She was production director of Sculpture and Design at Madein from 1987 to 1996. The artist, who became famous as a sculptor of very plastically refined forms with a great metaphorical charge, chose in this image of hers to be screen printed for a fluidity and organicity that poetically reminds us of the cosmic referent that inspires them, the plant world, with its fragile stems and the ephemeral beauty of diaphanous flowers, the whole guided however by a secret geometry, an image of the hidden order that mentally and cosmically presides over all growth and evolution.
