Critical notes
The edition of a work by the veteran Helena Abreu, marks another recent exhibition by a Porto artist of national prominence who saw her work being distinguished with several awards in Portugal and abroad. In the screen printing presented, the mastery of drawing is revealed in the very personal language of watercolor, which serves as its base, in luminous transparencies. The delicacy of the line and the softness of its palette give rise to clear vibrations, subtle movements and magically diluted tones. In the soft contrast of cold and warm tones, this image creates a serene and secret lyricism for a universe of poetic sensitivity receptive to the miracle of transfiguration.
