A SOLAR JOY

Indispensable master of Portuguese minimalist and conceptual creation, Ângelo de Sousa (Maputo, Mozambique, 1938-Porto 2011), painter, sculptor and teacher is He is one of the exponents of art from the second half of the 20th century in our country. Large exhibitions of his work at the Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, the Fundação de Serralves and the Centro Cultural de Belé mattest to the great notoriety of his career. In the screen printing that we present today, its minimal forms of vibrant and springtime tones create a kind of score that encourages music. It is the most hidden music of the soul and the world, revealing, like the whole of his work, an incomparable solar freshness and joy that is not diluted or faded in the face of the winter of all discontent.
