The Portuguese Screen Printing Center opens on April 7th, in its CCB space, an exhibition of recent engravings by the renowned engraving artist David de Almeida, entitled Cadência, which will be patent to the public until the end of the year. May 8, 2011. At the opening of the exhibition, it will be A catalog book with the same title is presented, entirely printed in silkscreen, limited edition, with text by Tomás Paredes and which includes a screenprint numbered and signed by the artist. Exploring the rhythm of the minimalist language of the incisions in the stone inspired by the Neolithic period, the artist once again develops in this set, the original dialogue characteristic of his style, with the previous inscriptions ;-historical and that finds in the very poetics of the materials that he masters with mastery, another and very rich source of inspiration. Tomás Paredes, who presides over the Association of Art Critics of Madrid, introduces the album to be presented together with the exhibition and highlights, in its poetic and lucid speech, this ritual of shared mysteries: “Nothing remains the same when the stone sings. Or cry. It seems that nature feels the nostalgia of a hallucinated paradise, which existed in illo tempore. Nothing remains the same in the hands of artist David de Almeida who emerged like an angel from the face of Castro da Cárcoda de São Pedro do Sul, to reveal the memory of a dark time, converted into a dreamy petroglyph , using old instruments to say new things. Lights in the night, jet black with holes where the moon sticks its fingers. Circles that summon mystery. Tattooed black mirrors that reflect the cosmic order of megalithic cultures. Mystical primitive symbols. Shaman David, who harmonizes the rhythms and sounds that emanate from time. Score written with universal traces, wrapped in the magic of hallucinated emotion.”
