Pinho Dinis

Born in Coimbra in 1921. He graduated from the National Society of Fine Arts, with the painter Domingos Rebelo as his Master; He then continued his studies at the Mário Augusto artistic circle.

During the year 1950 he traveled to visit the main museums in Spain, France and Italy. Returning to the country, he settled in Coimbra, researching ceramics in the company of his friend Américo Dinis. In 1954 he moved to Porto, guided by Luís Reis Santos and with the intention of studying ‘fresco’ with the painter Dórdio Gomes, at the city's School of Fine Arts.

Between 1957 and 1975 he lived in Brazil, but periodically traveled abroad. Europe with the desire to come into contact with the most recent movements in Modern Art. He exhibited individually from 1951 onwards, with his last exhibition being: “Drawings and Guaches” at Galeria Minerva, Coimbra in 2005. He regularly participated in group shows. He was distinguished with several awards, namely the monetary prize at the Annual Salon of Modern Art in Rio de Janeiro (1959), an honorable mention at the Salon of Modern Art in Curitiba (1960), a bronze medal at the Salon ;the Paulista de Arte Moderna (1961) and another silver at the Annual Salon of Modern Art in Rio de Janeiro (1963).In 2001 he received the medal of Cultural Merit from the Municipal Council of Coimbra.

He passed away in 2007, in Coimbra.
