Fernando Lemos

Born in Lisbon in 1926, Fernando Lemos was a painter, engraver, graphic designer, photographer and poet.  In 1949, he began his experiments  in photography and created a long series of images influenced by surrealism, with emphasis on the set of portraits of the artistic and intellectual avant-garde of Portugal, which gave him great and deserved notoriety. < /span>Disillusioned with the cultural and political situation in Portugal, he left in 1953 for Brazil, in exile, where he has lived ever since.
