Antonio Seguí

Antonio Seguí was born in Córdoba, Argentina, on January 11, 1934. He studied painting and sculpture in Spain and France.

His first solo exhibition in Argentina took place in 1957. In 1958 he made several trips through South and Central America and in 1963 he moved permanently to Paris. Throughout his career, he presented numerous exhibitions in Europe, the USA, Japan and Latin America.

His works, close to the Neo-Figuration which originated in the 1960s, reflect a strong social satire. In the 1980s, Segui created a character - Dr. Gustavo - the prototype of the alienated man of the urban world, who came to personify his ironic view of current day-to-day life, becoming a common and present character in his work.

His artistic career includes numerous solo and group exhibitions all over the world, as well as representation in different private and institutional collections, his work being part of the collections of many museums, in the European, American and Asian Continents. He has been awarded several important prizes, from 1957 until his death.

Antonio Seguí passed away on February 26, 2022, in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
