Alberto Reguera was born in the Spanish city of Segovia in 1961. He graduated in Modern History in 1985 from the University of Valladolid and from then on began to participate in Contemporary Art Workshops at the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid.

In 1991 he moved to Paris, where he currently lives and works, although he keeps his studio in Madrid. In 1995 he was awarded the Painting Prize of the Academy of Fine Arts in Paris and in 2003 he was the only artist of Spanish nationality to be selected for the International Exhibition of Contemporary Art EXHIBIT E in Washington.

In 2008 he was awarded the "Cultura Viva" Prize in Toledo, Spain. His work is part of the collections of important collections and museums: Brigitte and Jacques Gairard Collection, France; Art Collection of the City of Madrid; Dewhurst Collection, Greenwich, USA; Testimoni Collection, La Caixa, Barcelona; Global Art Source Foundation, Zurich; National Collections, Louvre Museum, Paris; and the National Museum of Bangladesh.

Alberto Reguera's painting, although abstract in appearance, is not. For some twenty years he has been working incessantly on the theme of landscape, renewing an artistic genre born in the 16th century. His works, with pasty or transparent surfaces, generally very textured, refer to elements of nature, both tangible and immaterial, such as the sea, the mountains, the light or the wind, the result of the countless journeys and research he usually undertakes.
