CPS - Centro Português de Serigrafia (Portuguese Printmaking Centre) is a leading institution in the Portuguese cultural landscape, founded in 1985 by António Prates. Its mission is to facilitate access to high-value works of art by editing, promoting, and disseminating Original Graphic Works by contemporary Portuguese and international artists.

Guided by criteria of quality, rigor, and authenticity, CPS produces limited editions of Serigraphy, Engraving, Lithography, Photography, and Digital Art in its own studios. These are especially aimed at its Members, who enjoy exclusive advantages and privileged access to a wide range of artworks, under a unique and innovative membership model.

From the great Portuguese masters to emerging young artists, and internationally through emblematic movements such as Surrealism, Pop Art, and Narrative Figuration, CPS follows an eclectic and educational editorial model. It holds a unique collection of over 3,600 works by around 750 artists from around the world and is now internationally recognized as one of the most prestigious art publishers.

CPS’s repeated participation in the “Estampa” fair in Madrid since 1993 - reaching its peak in 2005 when it was awarded Best Gallery at the event - was key to its international projection. This path enabled new cultural dialogues, the publication of more than 200 foreign artists from 32 nationalities, and the promotion of major figures such as Picasso, Dalí, Miró, Tàpies, Joseph Beuys, Le Corbusier, and Mimmo Rotella.

Since 2021, CPS has regularly participated in FIG Bilbao – International Printmaking Festival, in collaboration with the Portuguese Embassy in Spain, where it has presented exhibitions by renowned artists such as Álvaro Siza, Pedro Calapez, and Marçal, among others, while also enriching its collection with award-winning Spanish artists.

Among the artists published by CPS are also names such as Vhils, José de Guimarães, Álvaro Siza, Pedro Cabrita Reis, Pedro Calapez, Cruzeiro Seixas, Júlio Pomar, Cristina Ataíde, Graça Pereira Coutinho, Leonel Moura, as well as ORLAN, Miguel Chevalier, Najia Mehadji, and Alan Maser, many of whom have been featured in solo exhibitions at the CPS Gallery at the Belém Cultural Center.

It is also important to highlight that, since 2015, one copy of each CPS edition has been included in the collection of the National Library of Portugal, forming a remarkable public collection of contemporary graphic art recognized as cultural heritage.

Today, as a mark of quality and authenticity, CPS proudly contributes to enriching the collections of more than 15,000 members. The works they choose transform each space into a true personal museum, uniquely reflecting the culture of our time.
