Gracinda Candeias (b.1947, Luanda) is She is an artist with one of the most remarkable careers in the history of Portuguese art. Daughter of a father who is also a painter, José Marques Candeias, received a scholarship from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, having lived in Paris between 1986 and 1988, where her tutors were Júlio Pomar and Eduardo Luis.

He attended the Engraving Cooperative where he learned engraving with Master Hogan and screen printing with the Belgian professor Dacos.

 

He has collaborated as an artist since the beginning of the CPS's formation with emblematic editions. He often chooses to use paint on his screen prints, particularly the editions on canvas, making them all different, unique examples.

His painting evolved between a refined and sensitive figuration and an abstract language of oriental inspiration.

Throughout her career, Gracinda Candeias has participated in more than 500 exhibitions in cities such as Paris, Brussels, Madrid, Macau, Luanda, Brasilia and Beijing. Her work is represented in several Museums and private collections, in Portugal and abroad.
