Here there is no Space for the Sea

"For Breton, it is in dreams and in their wonderful hopes that man announces himself" wrote Alquié, the philosopher of surrealism. A statement that applies to the world work by Cruzeiro Seixas, exponent of Portuguese Surrealism, considered as a whole and also this image for screen printing created especially in the context of the demonstrations that marked the 20th anniversary of the Centro Português de Serigraphy, such as the exhibition ; of his works, which he titled: "Here there is no room for the sea." An exhibition in which the artist decided to intervene on his own images and those of other authors, freely associating fragments that take on new forms and new meanings. Game of the forms of the world and its changing aspects, dialogue between the real and the unreal, between the conscious, reason and dreams, blue continent, where the white figures of a loving expectation are cut out. A white moon, a boat that forgot to sail, a star that is also a star. bird. Figures of a secret where there is no secret. There is room for the sea, because the real sea is the sea. This is the warm, fresh horizon of dreams.
