CPS - Centro Português de Serigrafia presents on the 18th of May, at 6 pm, in its gallery at the Centro Cultural de Belém, the exhibition “Corpus Hermeticum de Luz” [Corpus Hermeticum of Light] by the artist Mário Vitória.

This event is the seventh and last of an exhibition cycle that took place throughout 2022 and 2023*. In this context, the artist's new screenprint, edited by CPS, “Foi-vos dito vós sois Deuses” [You were told you are gods], which is the symbolic image of all the parts of this great cycle of exhibitions, will be presented.

The exhibition at the CPS features works from this cycle, among other works from private collections and serigraphs edited by the CPS.

In the artist’s words:

This exhibition is not an anthropological, religious, philosophical or scientific treatise, it is rather a useful showcase of metaphors, allegories, “artwornings”, poems and positionings that intend to intrigue and expand awareness, in the face of the most current scenario of pandemics and wars. It proposes a possible contact with deep elixirs of the soul. The daring hypothesis of evidence that narrates a particular energy in each of us, proportional to that which makes the planets move or holds the stars in the firmament. Faced with the shrapnel of war, these images of lightness are actively proposed from various moments of the exhibition in various places of its itinerancy. Images of suspended planets, light mountains, living christs, talking rocks, essential voids, fusion of worlds, arcs of integration, whispering geometries.

Born in Arganil, Mário Vitória (b. 1983) holds a Master's Degree in Drawing Practices and Theories from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto. Several authors of Portuguese culture have already written about his work, such as José Luís Peixoto, Gonçalo M. Tavares and Ana Zanatti. Mário Vitória is represented in numerous official and private, national and international collections.
