The CPS Gallery at CCB opens on March 9th, at 6pm, the exhibition «I paint as I breathe, I love as I live» by Silva Palmeira, recognized artist and creator of an unmistakable style in figuration. the current Portuguese.

Composed of screen prints and recent original paintings, the exhibition presents an unprecedented screen print by the author, “A Guardiã de S. Paulo”, CPS edition which, as the title indicates, is a tribute to; city of S. Paulo, in Brazil. Silva Palmeira, born in 1934 in Santarém, develops in the works on display, his grammar of forms with a virtuosity that, according to art critic Maria João Fernandes “appears decant all the sensuality and your unconditional love into the visible."

The woman, her plastic and symbolic universe, has a central place in his painting, in a figuration of well-defined shapes that the drawing highlights, as well as the smooth and contrasting elements that also present their landscapes, with a poetic intensity to which the writer Urbano Tavares Rodrigues was sensitive.

To highlight “Nippone Dream”, a work included in the series Fusões e Sincretismos, inspired by Japonism that made the artist famous, who has already become famous. completed 70 years of activity and gave it fair international recognition in the 1970s.
