The Museums of Aveiro and Guarda, Museu Francisco Tavares Proença Júnior of Castelo Branco, are associated with this celebration. Joséé Malhoa and Cerâmica in Caldas da Rainha,Joaquim Manso Museum in Nazaré and the Santa Clara-a-Velha Monastery in Coimbra, in an initiative by the Direção Regional Culture Center and the Portuguese Screen Printing Center (CPS).
The exhibition, curated by Maria João Fernandes (A.I.C.A., International Association of Art Critics) and directed ;artistic work byAlexandra Silvano, develops in different nuclei, thematically, the motifs and symbols of the great Day and Night Regimes of the Image, as they are addressed by the great French essayist and anthropologist Gilbert Durand.
"The formulation I chose aims to present what we could call the “reality of the imaginary”. The “Day” and “ Night” appear there as metaphors of the conscious and unconscious, carrying with their respective “Regimes” a vast and haunting procession of symbols, with their cultural, sociological or instinctual motivations ( in relation to primordial reflections), analyzed by Gilbert Durand. In this case, it is not a question of going into detail into the complex field of theory, but of equating the practice of works with the vast magma of where they emerge, highlighting general features capable of making us guess the key to symbolic knowledge.” (Maria João Fernandes)
The exhibition «The Reality of the Imaginary» which opens simultaneously in seven cultural spaces, you will have its official debut at the Aveiro Museum. Accompanying it, a catalog was published that reproduces all the works presented, inserted in the respective sections, with introductory texts from the Commission.
A true delight for the senses and a way of celebrating and sharing art, which well represents the philosophy that the Portuguese Screen Printing Center has been developing for the last few years. thirty years.
