Victória

Born in November 1944 in Pombal, he died in Lisbon in 2011. In the early 60s he moved to Lisbon. In 1995, he began to draw in a spontaneous and immediate way, oblivious to the allusions of the outside world. Understanding the creativity of their work necessarily involves understanding the concept of "brut art", the art of self-taught artists with psychic problems, sometimes marginalized and distant from artistic culture, their history or references . É This is what Victória does, when she resorts to art as a form of manifestation of your unconscious, through deliberately deformed and poorly finished lines, the use of accentuated colors and asymmetrical compositions. His work reflects the biography of his life, sometimes lonely and fragmented, and the imperative need to express himself.

In 2008, the CPS published its only screen print and an article by João Prates about his work was published in N º. 65 of RAW VISION, considered the most important magazine worldwide in the specificity of Outsider Art. In 2013 Tomás Paredes, President of the Spanish Association of Art Critics, published an article about the artist in book Women and Art, part of the XIV Congress of Art Critics. In 2021, she was one of the artists selected to be part of the special issue on Outsider Art of the prestigious Canadian magazine HB, among artists from the USA, Canada, United Kingdom, Côte d'Ivoire, Iran, China or Japan. p>
