Graça Martins

Born in Vila do Conde and lives in Porto. In 1973 he completed the Model Stylist Course at the Ars Utória School in Milan. He has a Degree in Design/Graphic Art from the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Porto. Since 1979 he has collaborated with publishers, creating book covers and illustrations. In 1990 he received the 1st National Drawing Prize, Bicentenary of the Invention of the Pencil, Árvore, Porto, and in 2002 two Honorable Mentions for Painting, VII Biennial of Arts Plastics City of Montijo - Vespeira Award, Montijo. You are represented at the National Museum of Modern Art, Fundação de Serralves, Porto. About his painting project, he states that “it talks about the appropriation of images that interact with other images/collages. The practice of painting these days is already common. only It matters if the final result exceeds the painting itself. The surprise is only can be situated in what the painting questions. The image opens up to the world of all hypotheses, creating disturbing meanings through the representation of women from the contemporary world.
