Ema Berta

Born in Sintra in 1944. He studied at the University of Germanic Philology and completed his degree in Plastic Arts – Painting at ESBAL. É Member of the Board of Directors of the SNBA of Lisbon for 5 years and also Professor of Design and Decorative Arts at the Escola Superior de Arte e Design e Artes Decorativas of the Ricardo Espírito Santo Foundation. He currently lives and works in France. He has exhibited individually since the 1980s, in galleries in Portugal and France, including: Temporary Exhibition Gallery of the Municipal Museum of Sintra; Galerie de La Maison de l'Europe, Paris, France; Mafra National Palace (installation); Gallery of the Consulate of Portugal in Toronto, Canada; EPAL Water Museum, Lisbon; Galerie E.C., Paris, France. In 2004, he created a tile panel to cover the Algueirão/Mem-Martins viaduct, Portugal. Collectively, it participates in several exhibitions in Portugal, France and Brazil, including: Bienal de Cerveira, Vila Nova de Cerveira; II Azores and Atlantic Art Biennial, 1987; Invited to the Heidelberg Biennale, Germany, 1990; Colectiva Galeria de Arte Moderna, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, 1994; BANIF Grand Prize, Lisbon, 1995; FIAC 97, Paris, France, 1997; The Place of Drawing, Estremoz Museum, 1998; Feminine Sensibilities, Palacio Foz, Lisbon, 1998; Nativity for an Altarpiece, Jerónimos Monastery, Lisbon, 2000; Tema Espírito Santo, Torre do Tombo, Lisbon, 2003. In 1980 he received an Honorable Mention from the Salão de Outono – Estoril.
