Carlos Medeiros

Carlos Medeiros was born in the Azores and currently lives in Lisbon. He started photographing in the seventies but only exhibited regularly from the eighties onwards. He participated in numerous group exhibitions, notably those held at Espace Photo-Angle, Montpellier, France; The Bermuda National Gallery; Museum of Modern Art, New Bedford, USA. Individually, and in chronological order, he exhibited at the Modern Art Center of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Embassy of Portugal in Cape Verde; Mois de L’Image – Castre, France; Palmira Suzo Gallery, Lisbon; Dona Maria II National Theater; Exposiciones Gallery Vaquero Poblador- Badajoz, Spain; House of Culture of Villa Franca de los Barros, Spain; Ponta Delgada Arts Gallery; Galerie Ombres Blanches – Toulouse, France; Portuguese Center of Photography, Porto and Galerie Le Parvis, France.

He regularly shoots for theatre posters, especially in France. In 2005, with the support of the Deputación de Badajoz, he published the book Tierras (dialogue Godofredo Ortega Munoz / Carlos Medeiros and texts by Michele Lepicouché).

He is represented in the collections of Galerie du Chateau D’Eau – Toulouse, Teatro Dona Maria II, Cinemateca Portuguesa de Lisboa, Centro Português de Fotografia do Porto, as well as in numerous private collections.
