Born in Amadora in 1974, André Carrilho works as an illustrator, graphic designer, animator and cartoonist for various Portuguese publications, such as Diário de Notícias, and international publications such as Vanity Fair and The New York Times.

He has exhibited in Portugal, Spain, Brazil, France and the USA and has received several national and international awards, including the Gold Award for Illustration Portfolio by the Society for News Design and the Stuart Grand Prize for Illustration in the Press.

In 2011 he was selected to be featured in 3X Show Pro 3, organized by the American "3X3 Magazine of Contemporary Illustration" and invited to appear in the book "Illustration Now! Portraits" by Julius Wideman, published by Taschen.
