Alexandra Barbosa

Alexandra Barbosa worn in Vila do Conde in 1981. In 2004 she finished her degree in Plastic Arts at Escola Superior de Arte e Design, in Caldas da Rainha. In 2007 she became a Master in Artistic Production and in 2008 she started her doctoral thesis in Arts: Production and Research at the Polytechnic University of Valencia, Spain.

She has attended several workshops in the field of graphic work, such as Workshop Münsterlandfestival pArt3 at the ateliers Kloster Bentlage, Rheine, Germany (2007); Workshop on woodcut and fibre printmaking given by Professor Pedro Ascencio, at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Polytechnic University of Valencia (2007).

In 2004, she received an Honourable Mention in the National Print Contest of the 4th Évora Print Festival and the 1st Prize for Photography "À descoberta de Touguinhó" in Vila do Conde. She is represented in the following countries: China, Italy, Germany, Spain and Portugal.

She was awarded a scholarship at ESTAMPA'05 - "XIII Salón Internacional del Grabado y Ediciones de Arte Contemporáneo", Madrid and in 2006 she was a scholarship student at the "Taller de Xilografía en gran formato", Bienal Internacional de Arte Contemporânea - ALBIAC, Almería and at the "III Master of the Graphic Work" - Xylography Module at the "Fundación CIEC - Centro Internacional de la Estampa Contemporânea", Corunha.

She exhibits regularly, both individually and in collective groups, and her work has been awarded in 2006, the 2nd Prize for Engraving "Compositor Antonio Gualda", Granada, Spain, and the 1st International Prize of "Arte Grafico Jesús Núñez", A Coruña, Spain.
