Alcides Baião was born in 1964, in Remanso, northeast Brazil. In 1990 she was awarded the 1st. Prize in painting promoted by the Secretary of Education and Culture of Bahia.

Alcides Baião was also invited to exhibit on the 2nd. Salão Baiano de Arte, Salvador da Bahia. She then travelled to Portugal where she studied drawing at Ar.Co and took part in the Workshop of the Monumental Gallery in Lisbon (1992). Since then she has developed projects in the area of drawing, painting and sculpture, and held various exhibitions. Since March 2000 she has had a permanent exhibition of painting and sculpture at the Ritz Hotel in Lisbon.

She is also represented in galleries and private collections in Portugal and abroad, namely in the United States, Canada, Switzerland and Brazil. She is currently developing a multimedia project entitled IN VERSO between Portugal and Brazil.
